WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT PORNOGRAPHY?
A devotional from The Christian Metal Ministry
Because millions are battling this darkness in silence—and it’s time to bring it into the light.
Pornography is not a modern issue.
It’s an ancient war—the lust of the eyes, the craving of the flesh, the twisting of God’s design into something cheap, hollow, and enslaving.
And though the word “pornography” isn’t in the Bible, the sin behind it—lust, sexual immorality, impurity, objectification, and idolatry—is condemned clearly and repeatedly.
This isn’t just about images. This is about souls.
This is about bondage disguised as freedom.
This is about the war for purity, for covenant, and for the heart of man.
PORNOGRAPHY IS LUST UNCHAINED
Matthew 5:28 (MTB)
“I tell you, anyone who gazes at a woman to ignite desire has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
Pornography is premeditated adultery of the mind.
It’s the intentional act of inviting impurity, not resisting it.
It’s not accidental. It’s not passive. It’s an act of willful rebellion against the call to purity.
Jesus didn’t draw a line at physical sex.
He drew it at the very first spark of lust—because He knows that sin doesn’t begin in the bed; it begins in the heart.
PORN REWIRES THE BRAIN—AND DESTROYS THE SOUL
Science has caught up with Scripture.
Porn changes how your brain works:
It creates dependency through dopamine flooding
It desensitizes real human connection
It distorts expectations of intimacy
It fuels addiction and fantasy
It often escalates into darker material
But far worse than what it does to the body—is what it does to your soul.
Galatians 5:19–21 (MTB)
“The works of the flesh are these: sexual immorality, impurity, uncontrolled passion… those who live this way will not inherit the Kingdom of GOD.”
PORN IS SPIRITUAL WARFARE—NOT JUST A PRIVATE STRUGGLE
Pornography is Satan’s counterfeit intimacy.
It gives pleasure with no commitment.
It offers bodies with no covenant.
It trains your heart to consume rather than sacrifice.
1 Thessalonians 4:3–5 (MTB)
“This is GOD’s will: your sanctification—that you abstain from sexual immorality and possess your body in holiness and honor, not in the wild cravings of the world.”
The world says it’s normal.
God says it’s deadly.
And Jesus didn’t die to make you feel better about it—He died to free you from it.
THE CHURCH OF CHRIST STANCE
Churches of Christ stand on the inspired authority of Scripture.
God has defined purity. God has defined marriage.
Sex is a sacred act—holy, powerful, and reserved for covenant.
Pornography:
Profanes what God made sacred
Is outside the boundaries of marital love
Fuels sin through lust, not love
Is a violation of self-control, holiness, and obedience
There is no scriptural justification for pornography in any form.
Not for stress relief.
Not for singleness.
Not “to avoid worse sin.”
Porn is sin. Full stop.
VICTORY IS POSSIBLE—BUT YOU MUST FIGHT VIOLENTLY
Colossians 3:5 (MTB)
“Put to death whatever is earthly in you: sexual immorality, lust, evil desires…”
Victory over porn doesn’t happen by accident. It happens by:
Bringing it into the light
Confessing to a spiritual brother or mentor (James 5:16)
Replacing lust with Scripture
Cutting off access ruthlessly
Living with purpose, not passivity
This is a war you must fight with Scripture in one hand and prayer in the other.
And you don’t fight for victory—you fight from the victory Christ already won.
FINAL WORD
Porn promises release, but it brings chains.
It offers fantasy, but kills real love.
It isolates, distorts, numbs, and enslaves.
But Jesus Christ didn’t die to make you cope with porn.
He died to crush its power.
To rip the chains off your hands and ignite your soul with righteous fire.
Don’t manage sin. MURDER it.
Don’t normalize lust. CRUCIFY it.
Don’t carry shame. BRING IT TO THE CROSS.
Your body is not a tool for pleasure.
It’s a weapon for righteousness.
And when you walk in the Spirit, the gates of hell—and every website, fantasy, and lie that comes with it—will not prevail against you.
